Argumentative Essay Topics - How To Write An Argumentative Essay TopicAn argumentative essay topic is the one piece of writing that you will put in your college course if you want to be successful. Writing this type of essay is like running a marathon with many hills to cross.
First, let me give you an example. Suppose you are trying to write an essay on religion, and you meet a man in a bar who has a similar religious view as you do. What would you do? That is a good way to look at it. The man in the bar has a conflicting view of religion, and it would be best for you to write an essay on religion by presenting his viewpoint. Of course, I would never expect you to completely accept what the man says or to write exactly as he says because there are certain differences between our two viewpoints. You should give the reader the information and allow them to decide for themselves. Once you have given the text in your essay, you should use the topic as a means to challenge your reader to think about his ideas. Without challenging the readers with this debate, there is no point in writing an argumentative essay. There are some other types of essay topics that can be used as evidence for the arguments that you make. These are called the 'biography' of the author, a 'paradoxical argument,' a 'quotation' and 'hyperbole.' One last example: a list of facts, problems and actions that will provide some sort of lesson, and then finally the importance of personal character as compared to the value of the principles you believe in. Challenging the reader to think, is a key ingredient of good writing. Remember that no matter how strong your argument, it will never pass the test of time unless you challenge your reader to think. By presenting this kind of essay topic, you can give your students an important task that they can complete each semester in college.
